The Gift of Friendship

I was reminded very recently of the very great gift of a friend who is a “ kindred Spirit” It is a precious gift and at least in my experience, not an everyday gift. I also love that you can have more than one!

One of my all-time favorite books is Ann of Green Gables. Ann had her very best friend named Diane. They understand each other and value deeply similar ideals. They laugh, they talk and have no end of adventures. They were comfortable in their own skin when they were in each other’s presence.

For me, much of this was easier when I was younger. Life changes, kindred spirits move far away, or I move. We change but when you see this friend again, you pick up where you left off. I love that.

love that friend who knows just what you need to hear in the right moment and has the courage to say it. The words are gentle and there is no judgement. There is great power in the word that is spoken at just the right time. Proverbs 25:11 says it well” A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in a setting of silver.”

I hope you have your own “ kindred spirits” in your life. They are precious and worth spending that effort to reach out.

May a great word of encouragement comes to you today! We can all use that!
