. “Trust in the Lord and do good; dwell on the land and cultivate faithfulness. Delight yourself in the Lord; and he will give you the desires of your heart.” Psalms 37:3-4
To be perfectly honest with you, I am feeling a bit tense these days. Reading the news is putting my stomach in knots. I could stop reading the news - t, that might help, but it won’t stop what is happening. I would prefer to be in the know.
Psalm 37 :1-8 reads to me like an instruction book on how to live when things are tough in one’s life. Especially when it feels like someone, or something is coming against you.
We can put our hope in governments to a point, but to put our trust in the One who can give us peace in the storm, is even better. God, who sees down the road and around the corner, is still faithful. He has not changed. He is not wringing His hands as I read the news, no matter how stressful it looks from my lazy boy chair! We are told that while we are busy trusting God in the middle of the storm, we are to do good! Find things that are kind that you can do, however big or small - , just do them!! And while all this is going on, we are to cultivate faithfulness. We need to dig deep and trust God even when life seems a bit on the crazy side! We will find that God is still very present and able to help us day by day.
As we delight in God, we reflect upon His greatness and all His attributes that do not change. He is the same yesterday and today and forever. I love that. Nothing changes who He is or how He loves us and sees us.
Today, let’s choose to trust Him and do good. Let’s work hard at leaning into our faith in God and His faithfulness. He is not blind, and He is not worried.
Dear Father,
I choose to trust you today. Show me what good can I do today. Thank you for your faithfulness to me through all the seasons, regardless of what is going on in the news. Thank you.
In Jesus’ Name
Amen
